Mark Wilde's work on exhibition at Staithes Gallery
Mark Wilde hails from Derby but travels widely in search of inspiration for his painting. He visits Staithes and the surrounding area several times a year.
He is concerned with the effects of light as well as the fluid nature of the painting medium. His mixed media paintings combine transparent and opaque pigments to portray unique colourful impressions that capture the light and atmosphere of our coastline. His drawings depict the characteristic nooks and crannies of Staithes village with startlingly effective simplicity.
