Bruce Mulcahy: Opaque Materials - Acrylics, Gouache & Oils
9th - 12th October 2008
Bruce
Mulcahy graduated from Newcastle University with an Honours degree in Fine
Art in 1978. He now lives and works in Dewsbury.
He has been inspired by painters who work outdoors from the Impressionists onwards and all Bruce's work is completed en plein air. The practical difficulties of working outdoors in all seasons and weather are put to one side as the vital thing for him is to be able to react directly to the landscape and the particular colours, textures and light of the moment.
Exhibitions include: The Mall Galleries, London; Singer Friedlander/Sunday Times Watercolour Competition; Royal Birmingham Society of Artists; Manchester Academy of Fine Arts; Leeds City Art Gallery; House of Commons; Fountains Abbey; University of Northumbria; Dean Clough Gallery, Halifax; The Hield Gallery, Ripon; Art of Oak, Wakefield; The Greenhouse Gallery, Sheffield; Nunnington Hall; Pybus Fine Arts, Whitby
Bruce is a member of the Fylingdales Group of Artists and was this year elected
a member of the prestigious Royal Society of Marine Artists. He is a popular
demonstrator to art societies, runs painting workshops and is a part-time
lecturer in art at Dewsbury College.
