Paul Banning RI RSMA AROI: Watercolours: 13th - 16th September 2012

We are thrilled to be welcoming Paul Banning to tutor a Staithes Art School painting weekend this year. His visit in 2011 fulfilled a long-held ambition to paint in Staithes and has left him wanting to come back again.
With a background in design and under the tutelage of Victor Passmore RA, Paul began to paint full time in 1986, studying the great watercolour masters of the 18th and 19th centuries and developing his own contemporary style. He works mainly en plein air and travels widely in search of interesting painting locations at home and abroad. He is a member of numerous prestigious societies including the RSMA and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours. He exhibits widely and has won several esteemed prizes including the St Cuthberts Watercolour award at the RSMA. In March 2011 he won the Turner Watercolour Award. He is the author of numerous articles for UK art magazines.
Paul is a highly accomplished watercolourist with some 25 years experience in tutoring at all levels. This weekend will be a wonderful opportunity to learn from one of the country's leading watercolour painters as he discovers with you the fantastic painting opportunities offered by this most picturesque location.
