Robert Brindley: Working in Watercolours and Oils 17th - 20th July 2008

The Moorings, Staithes by Robert BrindleyRobert Brindley was born in Burton-upon-Trent and worked as a Computer Aided Design Manager in the field of Structural Engineering before moving to Whitby and becoming a full-time painter in 1992.

He works in watercolour, oil and pastels and is inspired by the challenge of capturing light and atmosphere in a modern impressionistic style. He is primarily a landscape artist, painting the landscapes and coastal scenery around his North Yorkshire home. He has also painted in other parts of Britain, Venice, France, India, indeed anywhere where there is an opportunity to portray nature and her moods.

Exhibitions include: The Mall Galleries, London - with the Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA); The Royal Institute of Oil Painters (ROI); Carisbrook Gallery, London - with the Guild of Aviation Artists (GAvA).

Robert's work has featured in several publications including the Dalesman, The Artist and Illustrator, The Artist and Yorkshire Life. He was also featured on Tyne Tees Television's "A Day in the Life of…" series. He is listed in the current "Who's Who in Art".

He regularly demonstrates for Art Societies throughout the country in watercolours, oils and pastels.
