Sue
Ford was born in York and now lives in Stokesley where she has her studio.
She has painted all her life and in 2006 left her job in advertising for a
local newspaper to fulfil a lifelong ambition to become a full-time professional
artist and art tutor.
The subjects for Sue's paintings can be found in the immediate vicinity of her home, from the quaint coastal fishing villages to the dramatic North York Moors. Her preferred media are watercolours and pastels.
Exhibitions include: Royal Society of Marine Artists and the Society of Women Artists at the Mall Galleries, London; The RNLI; Art Works, Newcastle-upon-Tyne; Hornsey Gallery, Ripon; the Phoenix Gallery, Richmond; Washington Wildlife Park; Danby Moors Centre.
Sue is highly regarded as a tutor on painting courses. She teaches watercolour,
pastel and mixed media techniques in weekly classes, weekend workshops and
on residential painting holidays. She also contributes articles to art magazines.
